Today HANA is at an early stage. SAP has its own database called SAP HANA which is high in performance for memory database application.
Earlier many SAP Customer had oracle, Microsoft and IBM databases to store their data but now they use SAP because of its Cloud service.
Platform database for the user by SAP HANA is faster than previous database engines typically oracle DB2 and SQL Server.
Now SAP Netweaver is independent from Oracle IBM or Microsoft .
Gartner even described SAP as throwing the gauntlet down to oracle and other database vendors.

Oracle is the second-largest software maker by revenue, after Microsoft.
Every new SAP customer needed to buy database software and most of that revenue went to ORACLE. So SAP is probably Oracle's biggest- ever Customer.
When oracle started to acquire application vendors like JD Edwards, Siebel, and PeopleSoft the friendship cooled down.Larry Ellison,Founder and CEO, Oracle started to attack SAP publicly, instead of microsoft,Oracle's Exadata(database appliance on SUN) is the most obvious alternative to HANA database and later this year Exalytics , In memory appliance basen on Times Ten.

Analysis of SAP HANA High Availability Capabilities in June 2013
Oracle at the starting page is mentions that the aim is not to compare SAP HANA CLOUD Database with ORACLE EXADATA CLOUD Database but ironically in whole research paper Oracle is only explaining their own technology and trying to convey that “ORACLE IS GOOD THAN SAP”.
Oracle mainly mentions in this research that oracle is superior to SAP.
- SAP HANA is immature.
- SAP HANA is not industry ready enterprise.
